- Student Living
Bromley invests in and manages office buildings, with a focus on repositioning older buildings into modern, creative office spaces in urban locations. Our success is reflected in the roster of our prestigious tenants, including Chanel, Barnes & Noble, Carters/OshKosh, The New York Times, WQXR, Konica Minolta, South State Bank and other prominent professional services, technology and creative companies.
Investing and developing in mixed-use projects has been a core part of Bromley’s strategy that includes large projects such as Midtown Tampa, a 1.8 million square foot mixed-use community that includes office, retail, hotel, residential, recreational trails and open spaces, as well as the Bromley Condominium in New York City that includes almost half a million square feet of residential, retail and parking garage.
Since purchasing Bromley Hall, a 700-bed residence hall at the University of Illinois in 1974, Bromley has built a successful student housing investment and management platform across the Midwest. Our focus is on residence halls and vertical college housing properties managed by our in-house management team and food service division. In addition to our real estate expertise, Bromley’s executives have served on university housing and facility committees, as housing officers and college trustees.
Bromley has experience developing and managing condo and multi-family apartment units in New York City and beyond. Our largest residential project, Bromley Condominium, located on an entire city block on the Upper West Side in New York City, is a 450,000 square foot, 300-unit development which includes major retail and parking facilities. As part of our Midtown Tampa development site in Tampa, Florida, there is a 400-unit multi-family component.
Bromley has owned, leased, and managed urban retail, with a concentration on some of the most prominent locations in New York City, including Broadway, 57th Street and Fifth Avenue. With a recent focus on experiential retail and health and wellness, Bromley is undergoing a major retail development project in Tampa, Florida. The quality of our locations and long standing relationships continue to attract top national retailers such as Whole Foods, REI, The Gap, Sephora, Shake Shack, Barnes & Noble, Charles Schwab and Banana Republic.
Bromley owns and operates a net lease industrial and parking portfolio in the New York, Georgia and South Carolina. These properties are net leased to national and regional logistics and parking companies.

Since founding Bromley Companies in 1972, Bill has established a national reputation as a real estate investor, developer and operator. He has guided the successful acquisition and development of over 3 million square feet of retail, residential and commercial real estate during his career. Bromley projects have won numerous development and architectural awards under his leadership. Prior to founding Bromley, Bill served as Director of Housing for Ohio University and Director of Leasing and Management for Tishman Realty and Construction.
Active on many fronts, he serves on the Board of Directors of Barnes & Noble College Bookstores, Inc. and sits as Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees at Ithaca College. He has served on the Board of Directors of Collegiate School, The Palm Bank and also served on the Facilities Committee for the New School for Social Research, the Visiting Committee of the Graduate School of Management and Urban Policy for the New School and The Real Estate Board of New York.
Nicholas Haines is Chief Executive Officer at Bromley Companies, a national real estate owner and developer focused on mixed use, office, retail and college housing. As CEO he has overseen over $1 billion of development and investment transactions, including the 20 acre, 1.7 million square foot Midtown Tampa development. In addition, Nick has led the leasing of over 1 million square feet of office, retail, and residential projects in New York, Florida and Illinois.
Previous to Bromley, Nick ran marketing and business development at Vaultus, a mobile software company. He served as a founding member of Merrill Lynch’s Principal Investment Group and was an investment analyst at Brown Brothers Harriman. He received an MBA from Stanford University and a BA from Duke University.
Nick is a member of the Board of the Tampa Economic Development Council, the Real Estate Board of New York, and on Executive Committee of the Union Square Partnership.
Jerry joined Bromley Companies in 2020, and currently serves as the Director of Property Management. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations for all commercial, industrial, retail, and residential properties in the portfolio.
Prior to joining Bromley, Jerry spent several years working for JLL as the General Manager at 101 Greenwich Street. During his time at the property, he oversaw the operations of the asset from a pre-development project to a stabilized Class A office building. Jerry also spent some time with Cushman & Wakefield where he oversaw the day-to-day operations at 100 Wall Street. Most recently, Jerry served as the Property Manager at Vanbarton Group, where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations at one of their midtown assets.
Jerry attended the University of North Texas where his focus was on business administration. He is also working toward his BOMA RPA designation.
As Controller at the Bromley Companies, Alan is responsible for financial reporting, audit, tax, budgeting and forecasting, treasury, and corporate compliance.
Alan has more than 25 years experience in the real estate industry, including a long tenure at Cushman & Wakefield.
At Cushman & Wakefield, Alan led financial teams in financial reporting, budget and forecasting, and operational management for some of New York’s most coveted class “A” commercial, retail and facility assignments, including the prestigious World Trade Center site.
Alan earned a B.S. in Accounting from New York Institute of Technology, he is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York, and earned his Chartered Global Management Accountant designation from the AICPA.
General Manager, Director of Housing
Ed serves as Senior Vice President of Bromley Companies’ College Housing division, assisting the President with overseeing all college housing operations, currently at Bromley Hall at The University of Illinois, Champaign and Naismith Hall at The University of Kansas, Lawrence. Ed began with the company in 1997 as Chief Accountant, and has served in a number of capacities overseeing the housing operations.
Over the years, he has developed initiatives which have contributed to the Bromley Group of Companies’ success and reputation as one of the most sought-out privately-owned student residence halls on the University of Illinois campus. Ed earned his Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University.
Kamila joined Bromley Companies in 2018, and currently serves as the Senior Property Accountant. She is responsible for overseeing the Florida portfolio, including the development of Midtown Tampa.
Kamila received her BS from Baruch College in New York City.
Shevon is the Assistant Controller at Bromley Companies. She is responsible for supporting the overall day-to-day financial operations and oversees the accounting staff with financial reporting. Shevon has over 10 years of experience in commercial real estate accounting.
Prior to joining Bromley Companies in 2018, Shevon worked as a Senior Property Accountant at Taconic Management Company. Her responsibilities ranged from financial reporting for several commercial buildings.
She earned her BS degree in Accounting from Baruch college and her MS degree in Accounting from Brooklyn College.
Christina joined Bromley Companies in 2016, and currently serves as Operations Manager. She is responsible for overseeing the construction administration, Tampa’s diverse portfolio including the Midtown Tampa development.
Prior to 2016, Christina spent three years working with a general contractor as his project manager. She was responsible for running the jobsite while maintaining the budgets, payables, and supplies. This allowed her to gain hands on experience on a construction site. Before 2013, she worked for Bromley as their office manager for the Tampa location gaining valuable knowledge and history on the properties for the later development.
Christina received her BS from St. Petersburg College. She currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the MTERC Community District Development for the Midtown Tampa project.
Travis joined The Bromley Companies in 2015, and currently serves as The General Manager of Bromley Hall.
Travis is responsible for overseeing all day to day building operations including directing the properties ongoing facility operations, space leasing and community partnerships. Oversees and manages the contractors for facility projects negotiate contracts and bids and monitors projects according to building specifications and financial budgets.
Travis received his BS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Helen supports Bromley’s Chairman and CEO and manages the New York office. She comes to Bromley having spent 20 years living and working in the UK, Singapore and Switzerland. While there she tackled roles ranging from recruitment to office management to event and conference production. Helen is also a qualified ESL teacher and has taught English in Switzerland and Nepal.
Helen has a BA in History from Mount Holyoke college and a CELTA certificate from Cambridge.
Katie joined Bromley Companies in 2019, and currently serves as the Associate of Real Estate. She holds a wide range of responsibilities within the firm’s acquisitions and new business development, capital raising, property and tenant management, development and project management and marketing and leasing.
Prior to joining Bromley, Katie spent several years working for a boutique real estate development firm in Jersey City, NJ, beginning as an intern and working her way up to Acquisitions and Development Associate. During her tenure, Katie managed a portfolio of 13 multi-family residential and 3 mixed-use assets. Additionally, Katie was responsible for assisting with all aspects of new development, including sourcing, financial analysis, capital raising, entitlements, design, marketing and leasing. Within her 3 years at the firm, Katie guided 3 new construction projects from conception to completion.
Katie received her BA from Fordham University, where she was a member and 2-year captain of the Fordham University Women’s Soccer Team. She also holds an MS from Fordham’s Gabelli School of Business in global finance, with a focus in real estate finance.
Neal is responsible for financial reporting, tax structuring, acquisitions, capital markets initiatives and strategic planning. He joined Bromley with more than 25 years of experience in helping to establish and grow several significant real estate companies including TGM Associates and Taconic Investment Partners.
At Taconic he built and led their finance organization, served on the Investment Committee and helped oversee operations of the entire firm. Neal’s tenure at Taconic culminated with the $1.8 billion sale of 111 8th Avenue to Google Inc. Neal earned a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Scranton, an MBA from Rutgers University and achieved his Certified Public Accountant designation.
Thomas joined Bromley in 1995 and serves as Chief Information Officer and Director of Information Systems. His current responsibilities include maintaining, implementing, and overseeing all technology and related Information Systems including accounting, project management, local and wide area networks, and website development.
Prior to joining Bromley, Thomas worked for RCA designing undersea systems warfare and acoustic analysis systems on Naval submarines before turning to Bio-Medical engineering and research at Georgia Tech. At Georgia Tech he designed devices for those special individuals with mobility and control limitations.
Thomas holds Graduate and Undergraduate degrees in Electrical and Bio Medical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA in Finance from LSU.
Peter is responsible for acquisitions, development, and asset management at Bromley Companies. At the firm he has managed and transacted in over 1 million square feet and $500 million of real estate. As an executive committee member, he is also involved in corporate initiatives and strategy.
Prior to joining Bromley Companies, Peter worked as an architect in the design and project management of a range of real estate asset classes including office, retail, and student housing.
Peter received an MBA from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a registered architect in the State of New York, a LEED accredited professional and a State of New York licensed Real Estate Broker.
Roy has over 30 years’ experience working on large scale construction and development mixed use, office and retail projects both in the U.S. and abroad. His responsibilities include all facets of construction and project management across the firm’s portfolio.
Prior to joining Bromley, he has been responsible for development, construction and tenant coordination for a portfolio of 90 retail centers with 13 million square feet of GLA and the repositioning and renovation of the 750,000 square foot 1501 Broadway in New York City. Roy has held key roles as Senior Vice President at Poag & McEwen and Vice President at Westfield Corporation Inc. Roy also ran the design, master planning and development for the Tourism Development Investment Company in Abu Dhabi including overseeing the construction of the Westin and St. Regis hotels. Roy attended the University of Illinois and holds an M.S. in Finance and both a B.S. and MA in Architecture. He is a registered architect.
Currently serving as the Associate Director of Real Estate, Jenny primarily works on the construction and development of ground-up projects and repositioning of existing assets.
Jenny joined Bromley Companies in 2020 from Youngwoo Associates where she was responsible for acquisitions and managed mixed-use developments. She also worked on residential development, sales and marketing at Gemdale USA. Before transitioning to integrated real estate, Jenny worked as an architect at OMA in Rotterdam and Hong Kong on a wide range of design projects including masterplans and hotels.
Jenny received her Bachelor of Architecture degree from Rice University and Masters in Architecture from Harvard University.
