has also continued to be involved in community development projects and
other organizations throughout the years. We remain committed to our
projects, our properties, our employees and the cities they reside in.
William L. Haines, Chairman and CEO
Since founding the Bromley Companies in 1972, William Haines has established a national reputation as a real estate investor, developer and operator. Mr. Haines has guided the successful acquisition and development of over three million square feet of retail, residential and commercial real estate during his career. Bromley and its projects have won numerous development and architectural awards under Haines’s leadership. Prior to his founding Bromley, he served as Director of Housing for Ohio University and Director of Leasing and Management for Tishman Realty and Construction.
Active on many fronts, William Haines serves on the Board of Directors of Barnes & Noble College Bookstores, Inc., The Palm Bank, and Union Square Partnership. He currently sits as Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees at Ithaca College. He has served on the Board of Directors of Collegiate School and also served on the Facilities Committee for the New School for Social Research, the Visiting Committee of the Graduate School of Management and Urban Policy for the New School and The Real Estate Board of New York, Inc.
James G. Graham, President, College Housing
Mr. Graham currently serves as President of Bromley College Housing Division and has responsibility for all of our college housing and food service operations. After joining Bromley Companies in 1981, Mr. Graham worked as General Manager of Bromley Hall, Champaign, Il. In 1989 he became Executive Vice President of Tice Food Service, Bromley’s university food service subsidiary, and in 1995 was appointed Vice President of Bromley Operating Group of Companies and President of Tice Food Service. He has overseen the development and growth of Classic Events Catering, a private catering company based in Champaign, IL.
Mr. Graham earned his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Illinois.
Nicholas Haines, Executive Vice President and COO
Mr. Haines currently works as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Bromley Companies which he joined in 2005. Nick is primarily responsible for overseeing new acquisitions, property marketing and leasing, and financial and corporate strategy. Previous to joining Bromley, Mr. Haines served as Vice-President of Business Development at Vaultus, Inc, a wireless software and consulting company. Mr. Haines also served as a founding member of Merrill Lynch's Principal Investment Group and as an investment analyst at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co.
Mr. Haines received an MBA from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University. He currently serves as Vice President of the Board of Managers at The Bromley Condominium and on the Board of Directors at the Healthcare Chaplaincy.
Lawrence Payson, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Payson joined the Bromley Companies as CFO in 2009. Larry supervises financial management and analysis, tax, property financing, accounting systems, insurance, acquisitions, and leasing.
Larry is a Certified Public Accountant and has more than twenty years of real estate related experience. He previously held senior financial positions with Cavalier Property Group, Andalex Group, Emmes Asset Management, and Zeckendorf Company.
Joseph A. DeGrotta, Director of Development
Mr. Joseph A. DeGrotta has more than 25 years of diverse experience in construction management, real estate development and property management. Mr. DeGrotta joined the Bromley Companies in 1982 as the Director of Planning, Development and Construction. He is responsible for coordination and control of all construction, capital improvements and maintenance for the Bromley Companies throughout the United States.
Among his main projects at Bromley, Mr. DeGrotta successfully completed the development of a new 300 unit luxury condominium in New York City; the complete retrofit and upgrade of all building systems including tenant work for over 260,000 square feet of turn-of-the-century office building in New York City’s Historic Flat Iron District; and extensive façade repairs and continuous remodeling and capital improvements of two 200,000 sq. ft. college dormitories in the Midwest.
Lawrence Wolff, Controller
Mr. Wolff joined the Bromley Companies as Controller in 1989. He successfully rebuilt and restructured the entire accounting department and is responsible for all accounting related activity including monthly financial reporting, annual internal year-end audits, and budget compilation. His control covers New York, Midwest and Florida properties. For five years previous to 1989, Mr. Wolff worked in real estate property accounting for several prominent commercial and residential properties belonging to the prestigious firm of Peter Sharp& Company.
Ed Coyne, General Manager & Director of Housing
Ed Coyne is responsible for managing and directing the daily operations of our Bromley Hall, our flagship university student residence hall in Champaign,Illinois. Mr. Coyne began his career with Bromley in 1997 as Chief Accountant, overseeing the daily accounting functions for The Bromley Group of Companies and Tice Food Services. In 2000 Mr. Coyne became the General Manager for Bromley Hall in Athens, Ohio and in 2002 became the General Manager & Director Housing for Bromley Hall in Champaign, Illinois. Over the years, he has developed initiatives which have contributed to Bromley’s success and reputation as one of the most sought-out privately-owned student residence halls on the University of Illinois campus. During the summer months, he oversees and directs all of the University of Illinois’ athletic camps in Bromley Hall.
Mr. Coyne earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Illinois University in accounting and resides in Champaign, Illinois.
Thomas B. Owen, Director of Information Systems
Mr. Owen joined Bromley in 1995 and serves as Director of Information Systems. Mr. Owen's current responsibilities include maintaining, implementing, and overseeing all Information Systems including accounting, project management, local and wide area networks, and web site development.
With Graduate and Undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Mr. Owen worked for RCA designing undersea systems warfare and acoustic analysis systems on Naval submarines before turning to medical research at Georgia Tech.
Paige Hall, Director of Human Resources
Paige Hall joined The Bromley Group of Companies in January 2001 as Human Resources Director. Ms. Hall is responsible for Human Resources across the Companies and brings over 10 years of Human Resource leadership to the company. She oversees the development, implementation and coordination of policies, practices and programs covering employee relations, compensation, benefits, organizational development and training, staffing and recruiting, and safety.
Ms. Hall earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Illinois State University and completed her MBA at the University of Illinois. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and has her Senior Professional in Human Resources certification.
